Brienno

The Commune of Brienno lies on the western shore of the lake, about eighteen kilometres north of Como.

Its medieval origins are clearly visible in the narrow, cobbled streets that wind between the buildings.

If you’re thinking of emulating George Clooney and buying a villa in this part of the lake,  you’ll find properties available in Brienno.

You’ll also find a restaurant, called ‘Crotto de Platani’, which is included in a select list of restaurants published on the Lake Como Lifestyle website.

Brienno has an unusual war memorial, which is said to commemorate a battle in Libya in 1910 when a battalion ran out of ammunition and resorted to throwing stones instead.
