Excursion to Lake Como from Milan

If you find yourself in Milan, on business or on holiday, and you’d like to get out of town for one day, you might find a trip to Lake Como a welcome change. There’s no reason why you can’t do it yourself but it takes a bit of research and you’ll have to rely on public transport. There are good bus and ferry services at Lake Como, and quick rail links from Milan to the source of those services in the town of Como. But for one day, it could all be an inconvenience you could do without.

As an alternative, you could take an organised, guided tour of the Lake, including sightseeing in Como and a ferry boat ride to either Bellagio – the ‘pearl of the lake’ – in summer, or around the southern end of the western branch of the Lake in winter. The guides will be both English and Italian speaking.

Passengers are picked up by coach at 9 am on Saturday morning (only) from Foro Bonaparte 76 and returned there nine hours later, so it’s a busy day with a lot packed in. The cost is £131.14 per person, except that kids (0 – 4 years) go free and for children (5 – 15 years) the cost is £65.57.

It’s not a substitute for a vacation there but it will give you a taste of the unique beauty of Lake Como. You might want to book a holiday there on the strength of the day trip.

The company that organises this excursion is called ‘isango’.
