Apartments
Why choose a self catering apartment at Lake Como? Well, they are bigger than hotel rooms for a start, and in addition are often:
- converted or refurbished homes on their own plot of land, guaranteeing rest, relaxation and privacy – with a few modern purpose built developments for those who prefer them
- well organised for groups of four to six people, including families seeking accommodation with more than one bedroom
- located in wonderful hillside settings with magnificent Lake views from balconies, terraces and / or gardens; or right next to the Lake, or in historic town centres near local shops.
It must just be remembered that apartments on high ground can be awkward to reach without a car, and may have steep sloping steps making them unsuitable for the elderly, infirm or very young children.
One of the main differences between hotel accommodation and renting an apartment is not that the hotel provides all meals inclusive in its prices (such an arrangement is almost unheard of at Lake Como). The difference is rather that hotel guests can eat lunch and/or dinner in the hotel restaurant (if there is one) or outside of the hotel, whereas in an apartment you have the option to eat out, bring back a ‘takeaway’, or cook in the apartment kitchen.
Apartments of different sizes, in different locations and obviously with slightly different facilities, command rentals ranging from hundreds to thousands of pounds per week.
